This unit specifies the outcomes required to operate a powered industrial truck of a type where the operator’s control arrangement is incorporated with the load carriage/lifting media, and elevates with it, for licensing purposes. The course is designed for people with some operator knowledge and experience and is conducted by a Registered Training Organisation [RTO] at our site in Campbelltown. Training is delivered in small groups and includes structured theory and practical elements (operators must pass an assessment in both to gain a WorkCover NSW licence to perform high risk work). Our course is 3 days of training, where practical training is provided on the order picking forklift. A booklet is included containing the theory information required to be learned together with a copy of all the questions set by WorkCover for the assessment. A formative assessment is conducted on completion of training. This course is supervised by an experienced Forktalk instructor at all times.Course Content Topics covered include those listed below along with operator responsibilities, safe use and introduction to equipment, PPE, pre start and after start checks and shut down as per manufacturer’s recommendations:
Please note: WorkCover requires that both a formative and a summative assessment must be passed to gain the licence. Formative assessments are conducted toward the end of the training period and must be passed before sitting the final summative assessment. In order for a summative assessment for licensing to be conducted, operators must have passed the formative assessment, be over 18 years of age and provide 100 points of evidence of identity to the Assessor on the day of assessment as per WorkCover NSW requirements (see following page). Please be aware that on the day of assessment students may be here later than the estimated finishing time.A Statement of Attainment is provided by Forktalk for each participant on successful completion of the summative assessment and the WorkCover accredited Assessor will issue the applicant with two copies of a Notice of Satisfactory Assessment (NSA).
