Target Group: Employees and new employees in manufacturing, retail, commercial and service
industries.
Course Aim: Course participants will acquire the information, skills and confidence to ensure an
effective workplace health and safety system.
Course Objective: At the completion of this course, participants should be able to
-
identify the main principles of the legislation governing health and safety in NSW workplaces;

apply a dispute settling process to prevent operational level and industrial and WHS grievances
from escalating into wider disputes;
-
describe the basic principles for the preventions of death, injury and illness in the workplace;
-
implement the appropriate response as a result of a workplace emergency and in particular as a
result of fire; and
-
contribute to the effective management of workers’ compensation and rehabilitation of employees
who suffer illnesses and injuries which occur at the workplace
