manual handling business

TLID1001 Shift materials safely using manual handling methods

Manual handling is a major contribution to the social and economic cost of injury and illness in NSW and indeed Australian workplaces. It has been estimated that one third of all compensable injuries within Australia are due to poor manual handling.

Both employees and employers are increasingly aware of the importance of ensuring the right to a safe and healthy workplace by incorporating prevention of manual handling injuries into their management systems.

Managing manual handling, like other workplace health and safety issues, requires a systematic approach and relies heavily for its day to day implementation on the understanding, support and commitment of all employees and supervisors. For implementation to be effective, appropriate training will be required setting out responsibilities procedures and consultation.

The purpose of this training is to provide participants with the basic knowledge and skills to participate in the process of identifying, assessing and controlling manual handling risks.
