BSBWHS401 Implement and monitor WHS policies, procedures and programs to meet legislative requirements

Target Groups

The Risk Management training is aimed at Managers and Supervisors.  The Risk Awareness is aimed at all employees.

These courses have been developed to provide generic Work Health and Safety (WHS) training for Supervisors and Managers and employees in industries such as manufacturing, retail, commercial, public sector and other service industries.  While the topics are the same for both levels, the Risk Management training is to a greater depth encompassing roles and responsibilities of Supervisors and Managers.

Course Purpose

This course is designed for people with supervisory or managerial responsibilities.  It aims to familiarise participants with the knowledge and skills necessary to apply the principles of risk management as an integral part of an effective WHS management system.  The course should also assist in the development of appropriate attitudes to enable supervisors to effectively manage health and safety in their areas of responsibility.

Course Regulatory Requirements

The WHS Act 2011 and WHS Regulation 2017 require employers to provide appropriate training and instruction as necessary to fulfil WHS obligations.  In addition, the Regulation states that one of these obligations is to undertake risk management to ensure the health, safety and welfare of employees and others at the workplace.

This course was developed with input from industry representatives to assist employers in meeting their WHS obligations and to provide supervisors and managers with an awareness of and ability to implement WHS risk management in the workplace.
